WAUKEGAN, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A 19-year-old man was charged Thursday after more than 60 north suburban residents reported that their vehicles had been damaged by BB guns.

Steven Pokorny of Waukegan was charged with 17 counts of criminal damage to property and one count of reckless conduct, according to a statement from Waukegan police.

Pokorny was arrested after police received 65 complaints of criminal damage to property on April 18. In most cases, Pokorny used a BB gun to shoot at vehicles in Waukegan, Antioch, unincorporated Lake County and unincorporated Kenosha County in Wisconsin, police said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s office led a joint investigation with various departments, police said. Following his arrest, Pokorny admitted to his involvement in the shootings and is now being held on a $50,000 bond, police said.

He is next scheduled to appear in court May 8 in Waukegan.
