WARREN, Mich. (WJBK) - In Warren, more than a hundred vacant lots costing the city money to maintain. Now, Mayor Jim Fouts has come up with a plan beneficial to those living next door to the empty lots.

In the new plan, property owners will pay just $1 to purchase the adjacent vacant lot. The purchaser will be responsible for closing costs, which will not be more than $700. The purchaser will then pay additional property taxes of about $150 per year.

Fouts says the plan is also beneficial to the city, which will be relieved of cutting weeds and grass and shoveling snow.
