Swimmers Aim To "Make Waves" Fighting Cancer

JONESBORO, Ga. -

For the second year in a row, swimmers of all ages are training to jump into Lake Spivey in an effort to fight back against cancer. Swim Across America is a national organization dedicated to raising money for cancer research, treatment, and prevention with swimming events.

One of those events is the Atlanta Open Water Swim in Lake Spivey, which is a fundraiser for the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. The swim is scheduled for Sunday, May 4th. Participants include former American record holder Mary Ellen Blanchard Warta as well as Dr. Thomas Cash, a doctor at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta who's already on the front lines of the battle against cancer.For the second year in a row, swimmers of all ages are training to jump into Lake Spivey in an effort to fight back against cancer.
