Authorities: 2 killed, 2 seriously hurt in crash

PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured when the car they were in crashed on a northern New Jersey roadway.

Authorities tell The Record that the crash in Paterson occurred around 2:15 a.m. Saturday, when the car struck a pole in the area of Haledon Avenue and North 1st Street. But the cause of the accident remains under investigation.

The two people who were in the front seat were pronounced dead at the scene. The two injured passengers were being treated at a hospital, but further details on their conditions were not disclosed.

The names of the victims have not been disclosed.
