DETROIT (WJBK) - Prosecutors have charged Lorenzo McNeil for the murder of Charmanek Johnson, the mother found stabbed to death inside her home while her 8-month-old daughter was left unattended in her nearby crib for days.

McNeil has been charged with first-degree murder, child abuse, child abandonment and larceny in a building. Witnesses said the suspect was seen loading appliances from the scene into a truck shortly after the murder.

Johnson's daughter, Lazaria, was taken to the hospital in critical condition and has received treatment for dehydration and severe diaper rash.

McNeil is not Lazaria's father.

Donations for basic necessities for Lazaria can be made at any Charter One Bank, where the family has set up a fund.
