Falcons 2014 schedule released

ATLANTA, Ga. - The NFL has released the 2014 season schedules and the Atlanta Falcons slate of games provides plenty of intrigue. Here are a few items of interest.

Week 1 will be a rematch of last year’s season opener, only this time, the New Orleans Saints come to the Georgia Dome.

The Falcons play the Detroit Lions in London in Week 8. It’s a game fans will have to get up early to watch. It airs at 9:30 a.m. EST.

Atlanta plays AFC road games at Cincinnati (Week 2) and Baltimore (Week 7).

The bye week falls exactly in the middle of the season (Week 9).

The Falcons have two nationally televised games – a Thursday night game against Tampa Bay (Week 3) and a Monday night game versus Green Bay (Week 14).

The entire schedule is below.

Week 1: Sep. 7 New Orleans Saints, 1 p.m.

Week 2: Sep. 14 at Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m.

Week 3: Sep. 18 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Thursday), 8:25 p.m.

Week 4: Sep. 28 at Minnesota Vikings, 4:25 p.m.

Week 5: Oct. 5 at New York Giants, 1 p.m.

Week 6: Oct. 12 Chicago Bears, 1 p.m.

Week 7: Oct. 19 at Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m.

Week 8: Oct. 26 Detroit Lions (London), 9:30 a.m.

Week 9: Nov. 2 BYE

Week 10 Nov. 9 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 1 p.m.

Week 11 Nov. 16 at Carolina Panthers, 1 p.m.

Week 12 Nov. 23 Cleveland Browns, 1 p.m.

Week 13 Nov. 30 Arizona Cardinals, 4:05 p.m.

Week 14 Dec. 8 at Green Bay Packers (Monday), 8:30 p.m.

Week 15 Dec. 14 Pittsburgh Steelers, 1 p.m.

Week 16 Dec. 21 at New Orleans Saints, 1 p.m.

    The Empire Center for Public Policy reports 1,803 local government employees outside of New York City have been paid more than Gov. Andrew Cuomo's $179,000 salary in the past year. The report from the fiscally conservative group for the year ending March 31 shows 47 of the 50 highest-paid municipal employees working for police departments or sheriff's offices and each taking home more than $250,000.

The machine is the size of a double refrigerator and uses oxygen to kill viruses and bacteria.
