Leader Dogs for the Blind looking for host families

Posted: Updated:
BIRMINGHAM, Mich. (WJBK) -- Ever wonder how leader dogs for the blind get their start? One host family in Birmingham has taken on the task of raising eight puppies for six weeks before they go on to train to be leader dogs.

It's hectic and chaotic with four kids and so many dogs in the house, but the Uchida family says they wouldn't have it any other way because they're helping so many people change their lives.

Leader Dogs for the Blind needs more host families to take care of newborn puppies. They're holding an open house on Saturday May 3 at their Rochester Hills location (1039 S. Rochester Road) from 1-4 p.m.
