Latest Prank Targets Poor In Order To Help The Homeless

Posted: Updated:
New York, New York (My9NJ) -

New Jersey's favorite pranksters are at it again, but their latest stunt is catching a lot of slack for being insensitive to the poor.

The group known as "Model Pranksters" took to Times Square wearing signs that said "Screw the Poor" and people were not exactly reacting to this latest prank in a positive way.

"Model Pranksters" are a huge YouTube sensation known for outrageous pranks, but this latest stunt may just take the cake.

"So we saw actually a video about a week ago that was going around online in London, they did kind of the same experiment, but they went around and were saying offensive stuff to the poor, so we decided to take this to New York City and see how the New York people would deal with it because there's a lot of homeless in New York City so we knew we would hit a big nerve on it, so we wanted to see how people would react to this experiment called ‘screw the poor'," prankster Coby Persins said.

This prank was so over the top and offensive that the group now travels with a security guard.

"It was really dangerous, several times he almost had to step in, people were slapping my clipboard out of my hand, I was going around obviously saying ‘screw the poor' and that goes against society, the norms of society," Persins explained.

This prank wasn't meant to be offensive; in fact it was geared towards bringing awareness to the homeless problem in our area. The group worked this prank with the New York City Rescue Mission and all the proceeds from the video will go to help this organization. Persins said that this kind of prank will get people talking and hopefully they will put their money where their mouths are and donate to help the city's poor population.

Throughout the video you also see some of the pranksters carrying signs that say ‘Help the Poor' which didn't quite hit a nerve with New Yorker's like the other sign did.

"We're trying to send a message out there that people should start giving to the homeless. This organization is a great organization they find jobs for the homeless, they do a lot of different stuff for the homeless," Persins said.
