Avisail Garcia has successful shoulder surgery

CHICAGO – Chicago White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia underwent successfulsurgery this morning at Rush Oak Park Hospital to repair a torn labrum andavulsion fracture in his left shoulder.

           The surgery was performed by a team of surgeons, led by Dr. Anthony Romeo withassistance from Dr. Nik Verma and Dr. Charles Bush-Joseph.  Garcia, 22, willremain in Chicago with the club while undergoing approximately six months ofrehabilitation.  He is expected to be available without restriction forthe start of 2015 spring training.

Garcia suffered the injury attempting adiving catch on April 9 at Colorado.  He was batting .267 (8-30) with twohome runs, four RBI and six runs scored in eight games this season, including acareer-high four hits and his first career multihomer game on April 8 againstthe Rockies.
