Lawsuit claims nursing home hired strippers

Posted: Updated:
WEST BABYLON, NY -

A family is suing a nursing home because it brought in a stripper to entertain the elderly residents.

86-year-old Bernice Youngblood was seen stuffing dollar bills into a stripper's tight shorts and she says she was forced to get a lap dance inside the East Neck nursing home in West Babylon.

"I felt terrible.  I was shaking," she said.

Youngblood's son claims he found the racy picture a few months after the October 2012 incident.

Attorney John Ray filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit claiming Youngblood, who suffers from dementia, experienced extreme emotional distress after the show.

"These performances were cruel and were meant to titillate the perverse pleasures of the staff," said Ray.

The nursing home attorney claims the $250 strip show was approved and paid for by the residents.

"The activity council, which consists of 16 residents of the nursing home, requested the activity and consented to the activity," said Howard Fensterman, an attorney for the nursing home.

Some enjoyed the entertainment.

"It was a fun night," said Louise.

Others are disgusted.

"My mom is here.  And to have someone in charge allow something like that -- there are no morals to that.  There's no integrity."

The Youngblood family filed a suit last year, but it was dismissed.  Now they're filing for a second time while Bernice is still living in the facility.

The Hess triangle is a tiny piece of private property in Greenwich Village. Manhattan historian Joyce Gold explained the origins of the property: After World War I, New York City seized a beautiful residence and tore it down so it could extend Seventh Avenue and the west side subway below it. The city left the building's owner only a tiny scrap of property so small it requested he donate the triangle to make way for a sidewalk. The man refused, took the city to court and won.
