Will Amazon Fresh take on Fresh Direct and Peapod?

Fresh Direct has been around for years. You grocery shop online, and the company delivers to your door. Well now other companies are cashing in on the convenience.

Amazon hopes a gadget called the Dash will bring in more cash. It looks like a remote control. While you're at home you can either scan the barcode of the grocery items you need or you can speak in to it. Items are added to your Amazon Fresh account for delivery.

Currently, the Dash is only available in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle and you have to be an Amazon Prime Fresh customer to participate. The membership fee is $300 a year.

However, Stop and Shop's Peapod app has no fees. You scan the barcodes at homes of the items you're running out of. For $6.95, Stop and Shop will deliver to your home. You have to buy at least $60 worth of items.
