Ear cuffs are the latest fashion comeback

Posted: Updated:

Cuffs are making a comeback in the fashion world. We've seen shirt cuffs, pant cuffs, boot cuffs, and even fashionable hand cuffs.

But now, the cuff trend has moved further up the body map to the auricular appendage. Ear cuffs are back on the scene and they are blingy-er than ever.

An ear cuff is a piece of hardware that mimics the look of an earring, but doesn't require to be pierced through your ear. It clips on, and hangs on your ear like a piece of jewelry.

Many celebrities, including Rihanna and Jennifer Lawrence, have been adorning these new accessories. There is a variety of looks -- from simple pearls to more elaborate sparkly designs.

Lucky magazine's market editor Laurel Pantin says this trend may be a good way to spread your fashion wings.

"Since this is a little more of an out-there trend that's not really so much for every day, try something out of your comfort zone," she says. "Maybe something that is out of line of what you would wear every day."

So, of course I decided to to try on a few that at J Fay on Lexington Avenue. I found they were easy to put on and a fun way to dress up an everyday outfit. The best way to wear this trend is with a slicked back hair and an up do so that the focus is on the earring.

"I think it's going to stick around for a while," Pantin says. "People are really into jewelry and earrings are kind of having a moment in general. So I can see it hanging around for a bit."

Ear cuffs are a simple yet striking way to a fun new look.
