Church Offers Drive-Thru Prayer

Posted: Updated:

If you take a look at this schedule on the marquee at the Estero United Methodist Church something a little unusual sticks out.  Members are offering every person who passes by a unique way to worship.

On the corner of US 41 and Lords Way in Estero Florida, the Estero United Methodist congregation is taking a special approach to spread a little faith.

"Drive thru prayer is all about reaching out it's far away for us to demonstrate God's love," explains the church's Director of Discipleship, John Halley.

You heard him right.

Every Wednesday John Halley and other church members offer a drive thru prayer for the thousands of cars heading up US 41.

"People have sadness in their hearts or they may have financial issues and they just need somebody to pray with them," says the church's team leader, Pam Sebby.

They hope a quick prayer with a hand to hold will bring extra support to anyone in need.

She continues, "It's convenient to our community so that they can just come on in get the prayer they need."

It does take courage to pull in and pray with complete strangers. This congregation believes the honks bring some hope.

"Were praying for them even if they just drive by, because I'm 100% sure whether people know it or not that every individual needs prayer," declares church member, Lois Strauss.

The church will be offering drive thru prayer every Wednesday evening through April from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
