Lew Leone is the vice president and general manager of WNYW-FOX 5. He is taking to the airwaves with his thoughts on current affairs. It's called "Lew's View." The views expressed are not necessarily those of the station or its employees.
In this commentary, Mr. Leone apologizes for something he previously said about the mayor.
I want to apologize for the poor choice of words I used in a recent editorial to describe Mayor Bill de Blasio's constant tardiness.
I put a graphic on the screen and called it de Blasio Standard Time which is at least 30 minutes late to everything.
As former Mayor Giuliani points out I might want to cut him some slack, saying we should give him a year.
Rudy is right. I should not have been so quick to try and be funny and jump on the mayor for keeping everyone waiting.
"He's never been an executive before," Giuliani said. "Part of being an executive is being on time because when you're not on time the whole operation starts to fall apart, so maybe you learn that while you are on the job."
No one asked for an apology but I figured my poor choice of words might be a reason why the new mayor who made frequent visits to Good Day New York as public advocate has so far declined to appear on our show.
So with that said, Mr. Mayor you have an open invitation to sit down with Greg Kelly and Rosanna Scotto, shall we say, anytime between 7 and 10 a.m.
