PHILADELPHIA -

The Philadelphia Eagles should have a new backup quarterback by the end of the day, FOX 29's Howard Eskin reported Thursday afternoon, according to sources.

Quarterback Mark Sanchez, formerly of the New York Jets and before that led the University of Southern California to a Rose Bowl victory, passed his physical with the Eagles, Eskin said he's told.

Sanchez came to Philadelphia for the physical Thursday on the shoulder he injured last year

He's expected to sign a deal with the Eagles sometime Thursday, Eskin reports.

Sanchez would be replacing Michael Vick, who has signed with the Jets, as backup to starter Nick Foles.
