Jury finds man guilty in neighbor's slaying

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -- A man has been found guilty of felony murder, second-degree murder and unarmed robbery in the strangulation of a neighbor in her suburban Detroit home.

Williams was charged in last May's slaying of 35-year-old Sabrina Gianino in Grosse Pointe Park, just east of the Detroit city limit. Williams was staying with a relative who lived next door to Gianino.

A Wayne County Circuit Court jury in Detroit returned the verdicts Thursday morning against Myron Williams.

FOX 2's Amy Lange was there as the victim's mother, Verona Gianino, hugged prosecutors and police, and thanked each juror as they left the courtroom. They, too, hugged her and offered their condolences.

Sabrina's family wants people to know that she was an animal lover.  She worked at an animal hospital in Grosse Pointe Park.  Five her of her cats are up for adoption.  Go to: www.4paws1heart.org to view photos of the pets and take action on adopting.

"We're very pleased. We're very relieved, we're very grateful that justice was done and, most of all, I want to thank the jurors for doing the most important job in our democracy," says Molly Kettler, Wayne Co. Assistant Prosecutor.

Sentencing is scheduled on April 8.
