Eastern Georgia woman shot by 2-year-old son

HINESVILLE, Ga. -

Police in eastern Georgia say a woman was hospitalized after being shot in the arm by her 2-year-old son.

Hinesville Police said in an incident report Wednesday that the woman thought she saw someone outside her house, loaded one of her guns and put it on the nightstand. The woman told investigators she went to the restroom, got back in bed and her son shot her in her left arm.

Police say the woman was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center before being transferred to a hospital in Savannah.

Authorities say the shooting is under investigation. Hinesville is about 40 miles southwest of Savannah.
