Three Year Old Brayden Chandler Passed Away

Posted: Updated:
FOLCROFT, Pa. -

Brayden Chandler‘s Facebook page "Brayden's Buddies" reported that "heaven gained a superhero yesterday. Brayden has taught us many things in short little life time. And we were proud to be his parents. He battled for his life and always kept a smile while doing it."

Brayden was fighting a rare form of kidney cancer. He was struggling for 14months. When he returned home on February 18th 2014, the doctors said he only had a couple weeks to live but Brayden held on for another month.

FOX 29 was there when Brayden received a hero's homecoming.

Back on February 18th 2014, he came home like the superstar was after leaving Philadelphia International Airport with his parents coming home from a big vacation at Disney World.

He found one of his favorite things waiting outside.

From scores of police cars as far away as Radnor and Springfield, numerous agencies escorted him to his Delaware County Home.

His parents were deeply moved by the outpouring of support.

"He was out the window waiving to people but he got tired. Big day for him. Big week," Jackie Chandler said.

FOX 29 went along for the ride and saw perfect strangers from town to town lining the streets sending Brayden messages of love and it may have been a little much.

When he finally got home, another rock star's greeting.

Brayden may have rubbed shoulders with legends in Florida, courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Foundation but close family friends arranged the escort as another gift.

"I know that we're going to make him happy today and his mother and father but they still have a devastating thing to take care of."

Brayden's parents say they are grateful for everything.

"I just want to thank everyone. Thanks for your support. It's very nice," Jackie Chandler said.

To add to Brayden's special week, he was also made an honorary police officer in Folcroft just one more way of praising his courageous fight.

If an iced coffee from Dunkin' Donuts is part of your afternoon routine, expect a nudge to buy a cookie or doughnut you didn't plan on. Dunkin' Brands CEO Nigel Travis said in a phone interview Thursday that the company is pushing to get its cashiers to "upsell" to afternoon customers. It's part of an effort to increase sales after stores have emptied out after the morning rush.
