Creepy clown frightening Staten Islanders

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - A clown was scaring the daylight out of people on Staten Island.

The creepy looking clown had popped up at random, public places including train stops in Grasmere and Richmond Valley.

Photos of the clown made it to Instagram and the hashtag #SIclown is even got the attention of Congressman Michael Grimm.

He Tweeted: "Pls report all #siclown sightings 2 Councilman @VincentIgnizio's office." Rumor was he was organizing a Creeper-Clown Taskforce.

The mysterious clown was spotted waving and holding balloons and wearing a trademark red nose, sometimes in the middle of the night. In one photo, the clown is lurking behind a tree.

"It's so not funny. This is a very quiet area. To know that this clown could pop up anywhere, that type of clown is associated with murder and Steven King's 'It,' a resident told Fox 5 News.

CREEPY CLOWN REVEALED

The incidents were staged by the Staten Island film company Fuzz on the Lens Productions as part of a marketing ploy. The photos were also reportedly posted by a group of friends with a connection to the company.

    Federal, state, and humane organizations are offering $7,500 in rewards in the case of the shooting of bald eagle in New Jersey. Someone shot a bald eagle in in Bridgeton City Park back in May, authorities said. The badly wounded bird was found May 20, 2014. Its wounds were so severe that it had to be euthanized.
