DETROIT (WJBK) -

A woman that had been tied up and burned, and then later discovered in an alley on Detroit's northwest side has been identified as 26-year-old Brittany Brown.

She was found behind a gas station near Puritan and Wyoming streets on Saturday. A man cleaning around the alley area made the gruesome discovery.

Brown's family says she had been diagnosed with several mental illnesses, including bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, and spent much of the last six years living with Mosunmola Cobbs.

Cobbs says Brown left her house February 14 and never returned. She says she looked in the alley where Brown was found several times, so she believes her body was put there recently.

She says Brown would turn to prostitution when she was in need of money.

An autopsy has been conducted but results are still pending.

Brown has two children who are staying with family.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
