Photos: Geico Skytypers tour over Tampa Bay

Posted: Updated:

With AirFest less than two days away, the skies over Tampa are getting busier. Today, the Geico Skytypers roared out of MacDill Air Force Base for some formation flying with a VIP onboard.

Mayor Bill Buckhorn got to view his city, and the entire area, from the back seat of a World War II-era T-6 trainer plane. Four of Geico's Skytypers flew in formation -- just feet apart -- over several Bay Area landmarks.

You can see the Skytypers perform this weekend at MacDill's AirFest, along with a number of other aircraft ranging from other vintage warbirds to the headlining Air Force Thunderbirds.
