ELGIN, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

An alleged drug dealer was ordered held on $75,000 bond after a search warrant turned up more than 100 grams of cocaine and 50 grams of cannabis at a northwest suburban home.

Dashawn Johnson, 20, was arrested after a Tactical Response Team executed a search warrant Tuesday at his home in the 900 block of Elizabeth Street in Elgin, according to a statement from Elgin police.

The warrant was a response to several tips about drug sales and other criminal activity at the home, police said.

The Gang Crimes Unit recovered a .45 semi-automatic handgun, 104 grams of cocaine, 51 grams of cannabis and more than $2,500 in cash, police said.

Johnson was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, and unlawful use of a weapon.

He has been ordered held at the Kane County Justice Center on $75,000 bond, according to the sheriff's office.

"I'm very happy with the Gang Units work in taking another gun out of a drug dealer's hands," Elgin police Chief Jeff Swoboda said in the statement. "These proactive efforts are a big reason our city continues to get safer."
