AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (MyFox Detroit) -

Already a popular destination for shoppers, Great Lakes Crossing Outlets will soon open an attraction designed to reel in even more visitors.

A 35,000 square-foot Sea Life aquarium will be built at the mall with more than 30 displays showcasing diverse marine life and including a tropical ocean tank with a walk-through underwater tunnel.

Merlin Entertainments said in a release it reached an agreement with the City of Auburn HIlls, Oakland County, Michigan and Taubman to develop the aquarium. Auburn Hills City Manager Peter Auger said, "We are delighted that a global leisure company as dynamic and successful as Merlin is coming to our city, and bringing such a great attraction. It will not only bring jobs to Auburn Hills but will also be a showpiece for the entire region."

Sea Life Michigan is scheduled to open in early Spring 2015 with construction set to begin by June 2014.
