Horne motion alleges FBI agent lied during hearing

PHOENIX (AP) - Lawyers for Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne and a Horne aide say an FBI agent lied during testimony in a campaign finance hearing.

At issue in the civil case is whether Horne and aide Kathleen Winn had illegal communications about a purportedly independent campaign backing Horne's 2010 election campaign.

Horne and Winn contend they had talked on the phone about a real estate transaction, not a pro-Horne ad planned by the group headed by Winn.

A motion filed Tuesday by lawyers for Horne and Winn says Agent Brian Grehoski (greh-HOW'-ski) falsely testified last month when he said a real estate agent denied that Horne consulted Winn on the real estate transaction.

The motion asks a judge to not consider Grehoski's testimony .

FBI spokesman Perryn Collier declined comment Wednesday.

Heavy thunderstorms swept through the tri-state on Sunday causing flash floods and lightning strikes that injured 3 people. The three men were struck at Orchard Beach in the Bronx Sunday afternoon and were being treated at a local hospital. Meanwhile, various Labor Day weekend celebrations were interrupted, delayed and even canceled as the U.S. Open tennis tournament had to be postponed and the Electric Zoo musical festival on Randall's Island had to be prematurely shut down.
