Three Middle School Students Under Arrest For Marijuana Possession

Posted: Updated:

Three students in Colorado are under arrest and several other were suspended after marijuana edibles were found at a Westminister Middle School.

Investigators say several students at Shaw Heights Middle School ate some marijuana candies and appeared high during class time. It started when teachers noticed a few students acting strangely during class.

A total of 15 students were involved 4 are facing expulsion from the school district.

District officials believe one of the kids brought the products in to share, but some of the students say they didn't know they were being given marijuana. Some of the candies were the size of a Tootsie Roll.

"At least one of the kids had brought these products to the school and began sharing them with friends," said Adams 50 School District Communications Director Steve Saunders.

Saunders also advises parents to talk to their kids about edible drugs that are out there and what they could be coming in contact with.

"You can't put your head in the sand. This is an issue out there, kids are going to be exposed to this," Saunders said.

The Adams 50 School District says marijuana-related situations are happening in many schools and parents should be aware of this and talk to their kids about marijuana use.
