LAKELAND (FOX 13) -

The skies over Lakeland were rumbling today as a rare relic of World War II arrived.

A silver B-29 bomber made several passes over Polk County this afternoon before rolling to a stop at Lakeland-Linder Airport. This plane, nicknamed Fifi, is the last B-29 Superfortress still flying.

It's among several historic aircraft on display at the airport this week, and while you can even book a ride, it won't come cheap. A seat in the cockpit costs over $1,000, but that money goes to maintenance and upkeep of this flying piece of history.
