Fellow students and parents come together to remember Ana Greer

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

The community is mourning the loss of two young lives taken in yesterday's murder-suicide.

As Phoenix Police continue their investigation into what happened, high school students, parents, and teachers came together in this time of tragedy.

Both students were sophmores at Sandra Day O'Conner High School. Many students at the Saturday night vigil say they are in shock and pain. The tragedy touched many outside the north Phoenix community with others in the valley coming to honor the victim, they didn't know her but are touched by her life.

A memorial continues to grow feet from where 15 year-old Matthew Bolton shot and killed his 16 year-old ex-girlfriend Ana Greer before turning the gun on himself.

"I can't believe it, I can't get it through my mind. I feel like it's all a dream, I want her back, I wish she didn't have to go," said Alyssa Garza.

"My son knew the young lady and from what I understand she was an upstanding student and as a parent we are deeply concerned," said Dan Pofesky.

Students started another site of remembrance at Anthem Preparatory Academy, the school where Ana's mother teachers.

"The point is to come out and support these people who are going through this difficulty and to make sure that they know they aren't alone, and they always have people that will do anything to help them," said Nick McHatton.

Students, parents, and teachers brought pink flowers to the memorial to honor Ana. Some people wrote notes and others shared memories.

"She was awesome, funny, cool, she was the person you would want to be around when you are feeling low," said Taylor Hill.

Dozens gathered at the vigil, comforting each other in sorrow and trying to find hope in despair.

"After tonight now I feel hope and its amazing what love can do," said Haylee Taylor.

The group Hands Across Anthem is collecting donations to help with Ana Greer's funeral expenses, to donate go to their website: www.handsacrossarizona.com/support/ or you can donate at any Midfirst Bank just reference the "Hands Across Anthem for the benefit of Ana Greer" account.
