PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

It used to be that power windows and locks were high tech now your smart phone talks to your car. Cars have become so high tech with convenience features causing confusion so dealers are hiring technology specialists just to bring new car buyers up to speed.

Even the lowest priced new cars come with blue tooth but many convenience features are turning into confusion for drivers so car dealers are turning to tech specialists to help.
    
Brendan Butler is part of Sanderson Ford's 'Start Team', "Virtually every new vehicle now a days comes with so much technology it may be overwhelming for people," he said.
    
Butler is not a sales person, he's there soley to teach people how to use their new cars. "There is a book that comes with the car. You can read if you have a few hours but it's about 500 pages, so it's a lot easier for people to come be with us for about half an hour or an hour and we can answer all their questions and set them up," said Butler.
    
The team studied every car on the lot and every phone they can connect with. The challenge is relating the technical data to customers of all ages. And if necessary they'll make house calls.

"One customer, we went to her house a total of 4 times to get her all set up and teach her to use her navigation," he said.

One of the biggest changes for new owners are the vehicle's key and voice command. "If you just touch your hand on the door handle it unlocks. So we've had several customers because of the convenience feature come back try to check and see if they locked their doors, but because of the key the way it is, it unlocks it once it touches it so the whole experience is so foreign," said Butler.

Then there are more advanced features like park assist. "Theres going to be a constant need to learn and be taught and relearn especially as vehicles integrate with the internet," said Butler.

Some features you can turn off, like driver assist and there's been talk of manufacturers getting together to come up with one centralized system.
