Motor City Hoops Classic comes to Detroit Riverfront

DETROIT (WJBK) -- The MetroPCS Motor City Hoops Classic comes to the Detroit Riverfront June 7-8, 2014.

The 3-on-3 basketball tournament is a collaboration of some of the area's top organizations, including presenting sponsor Opportunity Detroit, with proceeds benefiting the Detroit Goodfellows and the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy.

The MetroPCS Motor City Hoops Classic will have divisions for all ages and skill levels with both men's and women's teams invited to compete.

Approximately 400 teams from throughout the area are expected to participate.

In addition to team competitions, there will also be a three point shootout and free throw shooting contest for prizes as well as free Youth Clinics for participants in the Fourth Grade through Eighth Grade divisions.

The MetroPCS Motor City Hoops Classic will take place adjacent to the Detroit RiverWalk.

    The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is working to track down whoever posted dozens of stickers and fliers with swastikas and the word "Uber" in Brooklyn. The stickers and flyers filled with images of hate were placed outside a Jewish boys' school on Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn. A Shomrim safety patrol spotted the stickers on the sidewalk and in the gutters, police said.
