Blackhawks, Bollig agree to extension

The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have agreed to termswith forward Brandon Bollig on a three-year contract extension, which runsthrough the end of the 2016-17 National Hockey League season.

"We takea great amount of pride in having watched Brandon come up through our systemand become a big part of our lineup on a daily basis", Blackhawks VicePresident and General Manager Stan Bowman said. "We are pleased to be able tocome to this agreement with him, ensuring that he will remain a part of ourorganization. We look forward to seeing his continued development with theBlackhawks."

Bollig, a member of the 2013 Stanley Cup Champion team, has tallied acareer-high 12 points (6g, 6a) in 62 games this season with the Blackhawks. Hecurrently leads the team with 138 hits and 69 penalty minutes. He scored hisfirst-career NHL goal/point in Chicago's opening-night win over Washington onOct. 1 and posted a career-best two points (1g, 1a) on Nov. 2 at Winnipeg.

The 27-year-old forward has appeared in 105 career games with theBlackhawks and registered 24 points (13g, 11a) in 146 career American HockeyLeague games with the Rockford IceHogs from 2009 to 2013. Prior to hisprofessional career, the St. Charles, Mo., native appeared in 78 games with St.Lawrence University from 2008 to 2010, tallying 38 points (13g, 25a).

Bollig was originally signed by the Blackhawks as a free agent on April3, 2010.
