Police warn of Chicago Lawn armed robberies

Police are warning residents and businesses about two armed robberies that occurred in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the South Side in February.

In each incident, one or more suspects approached a person on the street, displayed a handgun and took property, according to a community alert from police News Affairs..

The most recent robbery occurred on Feb. 23 in the 6500 block of South California Avenue, the alert said. Meanwhile, on Feb. 6, another robbery occurred in the 2800 block of West 64th Street.

Police described the suspects as two black males, about 17 to 21 years of age, 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-10 and weighing anywhere from 130 to 150-pounds.
