Dad builds mission control desk for his son

Father's Day is still a few months away, but one dad has just made all the rest of the dads in the world look like amateurs.

Sure, a desk is a nice thing to have for your children to be able to do their homework, color pictures and put together model cars and planes. But what about when said child needs to fill in for a sick mission-control worker at NASA?

Have no fear, all-around amazing father Jeff Highsmith has a solution to the problem: transform said desk into a real-life working mission-control station, with buttons, lights and sounds included.

Once you get past the shock that your child will be saving humankind as we know it - or at least the astronauts in the piloted shuttle - you'll realize how amazing it all is.

In all seriousness, Highsmith appears to be a great father who has taken an interest in his son's desire to be a part of mission control. However, he didn't exactly seem to hate what he was doing. In fact, the project was probably for him, disguised as a toy for his son.

Either way, mission-control dad is pretty cool.

While the terminology explained may lose many people, the project is pretty legit, so enjoy the short video.
