SB 1062: How did your senator vote?

Posted: Updated:
CHANDLER, Ariz. -

The bill is really raising questions about what's going on at the State Capitol. Do you know how your state senator voted and what do you think of his or her vote?

Downtown Chandler is in Republican Steve Yarbrough's district.  He sponsored SB 1062.

Some people think that was a bad thing.

"We should vote him out.  Get him out.  He should not be voted in and putting that legislation through," said Gerald Sajor.

When she was told the senator who represents her wrote this bill and asked if she supports it and if she thinks it's a good thing, Sasha Spafford replied, "Absolutely not.  I am a business owner.  I do hair and I think it is sad we would discriminate against anybody."

But not everybody feels that way.

"This is the land of the free, so why not do what we want to do individually," said Cassidy Roberts.

So for example, if you had a business and people came in and were gay, it would be okay to say, "I don't want to do business with you."

Roberts replied, "Of course. Yeah.  It is your business, you get to decide."

In Sun City, represented by Republican Rick Murphy in the State Senate, we got a different take from Al De Genova, who was busy selling Chicago-style hot dogs.  He doesn't like the bill.

"Oh, I don't think it is fair.  I think people should do what they want to do and it is nobody's business."

Going off to college is an exciting time for the entire family, especially for the upcoming freshman. But with technology, parents can be in touch all the time. What's too much and what's just enough? Freshman move-in day seems to be harder on the parents than the students at Stony Brook University.
