Mother charged with murder after son's body parts found scattered

Posted: Updated:

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. (WJBK) -- A St. Clair Shores woman now faces first-degree murder charges following the death of her son, 32-year-old Ramsey David Scrivo.

On Thursday, January 30, Ramsey's remains were found dumped in trash bags along the sides of a road in St. Clair County.

His mother, 60-year-old Donna Scrivo, has also been arraigned on mutilation and dismemberment charges, and a charge of removing a deceased person from a premise.

On Monday, a Macomb Co. medical examiner said Ramsey died as the result of asphyxiation and ruled the death was a homicide.

Police say security video shows Donna purchasing the Skilsaw used to dismember her son. They say the tool was also found in one of the bags of body parts, and DNA evidence was found in the trunk of her vehicle.

Investigators also found blood and bleach at the house where she was living with her son after a fire at her home.

Police say Donna reported her son missing on January 27 and, three days later, was seen by witnesses in China Township dumping garbage bags. Her son's remains were found in black, plastic garbage bags. Authorities say Scrivo admitted to being in the St. Clair County area at the time of the discovery.

No court date is currently set. A psychological evaluation will determine Donna's competency to stand trial.
