ATLANTA (AP) - The Atlanta zoo will likely soon hear the pitter patter of little warthog feet.

Zoo Atlanta says Shirley, a 7-year-old warthog, is expecting a litter of piglets. Veterinarians at the zoo were able to confirm the pregnancy using an ultrasound. They estimate Shirley will give birth sometime between now and April.

The litter will be the fifth for Shirley and her 7-year-old mate, Vern.

Warthogs are found throughout the savanna of eastern sub-Saharan Africa. Warthog gestation usually lasts between five and six months, and there are generally three to five piglets in a litter.

More than half the population of New York City rides public transportation to work. No other metropolis in this country even approaches that percentage or the MTA's total number of riders. For that reason, New York likely ranks as the most energy-efficient city in the nation. But what would it take to make the city even more energy-efficient or even self-sufficient?
