Macomb Co. CEO changes tire unexpectedly during pothole event

(WJBK) -

Leaders in Macomb Co. say they know just how bad some of the roads are getting and they'd like to partner with lawmakers in Lansing to find a quick solution.

They held a briefing Friday in Sterling Heights on the growing pothole problem and deteriorating quality of the roads.

Macomb Co. Executive Mark Hackel says a brutal winter, lack of funding and neglect over time have contributed to the poor condition of many major thoroughfares.

In an ironic turn of events, while Hackel was taking part in the news conference a motorist pulled up with a flat tire from what else - but a pothole.

Hackel, who just happened to be in the right place at the right time, unbolted the damaged one and replaced it with the spare tire.
