GARY, Ind. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Two young men were caught on surveillance tape as they used a pellet or BB gun to shoot out three windows at the Adam Benjamin Metro Center in Gary, Ind. Monday afternoon, the Post-Tribune is reporting.

Northern Indiana Commuter Transit District police Chief Robert Byrd said no one was injured, but the damage to the windows caused about $2,000 in damages. He is asking the public to help his officers identify the vandals.

About 2 p.m. Monday, the two, both described as black and wearing winter clothes, were firing the gun at glass dividers on the elevated platform of the South Shore train station at 100 W. 4th Ave. downtown. Two of the glass partitions were damaged as well as a third window inside the station.

When passengers began to arrive, the pair put away the gun and left the area, Byrd said.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspects is asked to call transit police at (219) 398-6000. Byrd said the calls are confidential.
