PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

A state Child Protective Services worker is accused of trying to buy heroin from undercover Phoenix police detectives.

Sgt. Trent Crump said officers received a tip from a client of the worker who reported 35-year-old Leyla Sadikovic to investigators. She arrived in a government vehicle and purchased $200 worth of imitation heroin.

Investigators stopped Sadikovic nearby and placed her under arrest. She told detectives that she was engaged in her duties with CPS investigating her clients.

Crump says CPS' internal affairs division cooperated with police in their investigation.

Officers booked Sadikovic into the 4th Avenue Jail Thursday on one count of attempted possession of a narcotic drug. At a brief court appearance Friday, Sadikovic was released without bond.

Defense attorney Michael Ziton said Sadikovic had no criminal records and he called the arrest "an isolated situation."

An internal investigation is being conducted by CPS into her conduct.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
