Made in Michigan: Motown Soup

Good for you, good for the community. That's the motto of Motown Soup.

It's a collaboration of volunteers who make soup mixes and desserts. All profits are donated to soup kitchens, homeless shelters, food banks and free clinics.

Motown Soup works out of a space donated by Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica.

The total amount of profits given away in eight years is $291,100.

The profits for 2013 will be in the range of $60 - $65,000.

Profits of 2012 were given to
Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries $22,000
A new Free Clinic in Shelby Twp: $20,000
Gleaner's Food Bank $5,000
Forgotten Harvest $5,000
MCREST $3,000
$5,000 split among many other groups including Eastern Michigan Food Bank (Flint), Hope Clinic, (Ypsilanti), Baldwin Center (Pontiac).
