Car crash leaves Chicago Cubs player off the field and in a valley hospital

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

A rising star in baseball was in a crash with 4 other people, a crash that seriously injured Kevin Encarnacion.

Four of the people in the car were players and prospects for the Chicago Cubs baseball team A team that has played it's spring training games in the valley for the past 50 years.

Encarnacion, is a a switch hitter whose stats make him one of the hottest young players in the Cubs organization. But he's not practicing at the new cubs facility in Mesa, instead Kevin Encarnacion is in a hospital bed at the reknowned Arizona Burn Center at Maricopa Medical Center with burns and injuries to his throwing arm torso and foot.

He was trapped in that burning car while back home in the Dominican Republic in January.
