Harris Theater closed until March 6 due to fire

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

The Harris Theater will remain closed in March 6 after an electrical fire Wednesday damaged some of its equipment.

The fire had already forced the cancellation of two performances of the Hamburg Ballet on Wednesday and Thursday.

Theater officials said the closure will allow for the repair of operational and mechanical equipment damaged in the fire, a spokesman said.

Upcoming performances that will be affected include "Queenie Pie" on Feb. 21 and 23, and March 5; the Alonzo King "Lines" ballet on Feb. 27-28; the Choreography of Color Awards gala on March. 1; and a Music of the Baroque program on March 3.

A Harris Theater representative will contact ticketholders about their purchases and upcoming performances.
