Shooting In Sharon Hill; Police Search For Shooter

Posted: Updated:
SHARON HILL, Pa. -

Police are searching for the gunman who shot another man in the face at a Delaware County home overnight.

This happened just after midnight on Foster Avenue in the Sharon Hill section of Darby Township.

We're told the victim is a 39-year-old man who is undergoing surgery right now at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. Authorities say he's expected to survive.

The search is also on for the gunman who shot him at close range in the face and up to two other people seen running from the area.

This all happened around 12:30 a.m. at a home on the first block of Foster Avenue in Sharon Hill, where the victim lives part-time with his sister, who police say rents the place.

Investigators say she was asleep upstairs and the victim and one other individual were downstairs in the living room when there was a knock at the door. The victim answered the door, and apparently got into a very heated verbal argument with the person at the door. That's when he was shot.

Police said they believe the man was shot in the jaw. Witnesses said they saw two or three individuals running toward Chester Pike and past a car wash there.

Police are still trying to piece together everything. But investigators suspect the victim may know who the shooter is. They've not had a chance to interview him, as he is undergoing surgery. They did take a number of people from the scene in for questioning but say they do not have a motive at this time.
