Little Boey is only 4 months old. Just a few weeks after Tim and Emma brought him home, Boey got really sick and they didn't know what to do.

The American Red Cross is trying to help animal lovers through those scary situations with its Pet First Aid app. The 99-cent app launched in January. It has simple step-by-step instructions to guide pet owners through emergencies, like CPR, frostbite, and burns.

Dr. Sally Haddock, of St. Marks Veterinary Hospital, said an app a good source for critical information, but warns it won't replace a vet's care.

Dog walkers in Madison Square Park say more information on keeping pets safe is always a good thing.

This app is already gaining some traction. Some 16,000 users have downloaded it.
