The 1987 Robocop movie was about a Detroit Police Officer who become a super crime fighting machine. The movie is a classic and it had people talking about building a statue in Detroit in honor of the iconic character - which is now happening.

Giorgio Gikas, a fourth-generation metal worker that brought family business from Greece to the east side of Detroit, will be constructing the Robocop statue.

A company in Utah made the styrofoam mold and Giorgio will cast the statue and help put it into place.

The 1987 version of the Robocop statue will be around 15 feet tall with a 3-5 foot pedestal.
