Olympians Represent New Jersey in Sochi

The 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics are in full swing and the world is getting ready to cheer on their favorite competitors to win the gold this year. Currently in fourth place, Team USA boasts some of the greatest athletes in the world and this year is no exception; with eight team members coming from right here in the Garden State.

· John Carlson, Colonia New Jersey, Ice Hockey

· Kyle Carr, Flemington New Jersey, Speed Skater

· Chris Creveling, Flemington New Jersey, Speed Skater

· Jazmine Fenlator, Wayne New Jersey, Bobseld

· Jamie Greubel, Princeton New Jersey, Bobsled

· Kyle Tress, Lambertville New Jersey, Skeleton

· James van Riemsdyk, Middletown New Jersey, Ice Hockey

· Felicia Zhang, Plainsboro New Jersey, Figure Skating (Pairs)

Each one of these athletes boasts impressive records for their given sport and has undergone numerous athletic and social challenges to reach this point. No matter how these individuals do against their competitors, the Garden State can rest easy knowing we have a lot of great representation at the 2014 Sochi Olympics!

    Yesterday was Earth Day and people all across New Jersey took time to celebrate Mother Earth. Founder of the Astor Free Community Garden in Jersey City, Tinina Bland, organized a day of gardening with some of the city’s hardest working two and three year olds. “We reach out throughout the entire community, we grow collard greens, mustard greens, turnip greens, four different types of tomatoes, watermelon, pumpkin and this year we’re introducing fruit,” Bland explained.

    Every year the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce sponsors a train heading to Washington D.C. full of lobbyists and politicians. This year marks the 77th annual New Jersey Walk to Washington event where people board a train and use that trip to walk around the aisles and network with some of the Garden State’s top political and business leaders. Governor Christie has even said in the past that the year does not begin until the Chamber dinner in Washington.

Jennifer Duran is afraid because she doesn't know where her two children are going to school next year. Both kids attend success academy Harlem 4, one of three charter schools that still does not have a set location. The other two charters are Success Academy Jamaica in Queens and Success Academy City Hall.
