Armed robbery outside Southfield pharmacy, thieves stopped by the snow

Posted: Updated:
(WJBK) -

A man was meeting some unknown people Thursday to buy used cell phones. He has made arrangements with strangers before via the Internet, but his latest arrangement turned dangerous.

Police say the victim met some men at a Southfield Rite Aid and allowed them inside his vehicle. That's when they pulled a gun on him and took his money.

The suspects went to drive away but instead hit a snow bank. They got out of their vehicle and ran away.

Oak Park and Southfield police were able to locate and arrest the two individuals. They say the snow helped them track the suspects. Police also recovered the gun in the snow bank.

The victim did not seem to be seriously hurt and police were able to recover his money.

Police recommend if you arrange to meet a stranger to meet at a police station or a heavily-populated place.
