Powles Funeral Home and Carolina Cremation in Salisbury are collaborating with Uncle Buck’s All American Pub and Grill for an American flag drive. Collecting the flags will help pay a final tribute to local veterans in the area. So far they’ve collected hundreds of North Carolina flags, American flags, and many others.

It's an emotionally driven purpose for Matt Staton. He’s the President of Carolina Cremation and says this drive means veterans like his grandfather can have the proper farewell.

"We're honoring some men and women who need to be honored. They gave us the freedoms we are happy to have today. So, it's a way to show them the respect and the honor they deserve,” Staton said.

Judy Howard, who works at Uncle Buck’s, says the community has shown support for the cause. "It's the right thing to do and the right way to take care of our flags,” she said.

Both Staton and Howard agree that this is a way to remember the sacrifice and legacy of veterans, and also pay a tribute to their final journey home.

Uncle Buck’s All American Pub and Grill is located at 127 South Main Street in Salisbury, North Carolina.

This is an ongoing drive.
