ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (WJBK) -

A 37-year-old Oxford Township man is in custody after fleeing from police in Rochester Hills early Sunday morning.

Around 3:15 a.m. an Oakland County Sheriff's deputy noticed a green 1994 Dodge pickup truck turning from westbound Auburn Rd onto northbound Rochester Rd. without stopping for the red light.

The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver sped off losing control and flipping the pickup on southbound Hampton Circle and Wortham.

The driver climbed out of the passenger's side door and ran away. The deputy caught and arrested the suspect in the backyard of a home in the 800 block of Hampton Circle.

The driver suffered only minor abrasions to his right arm. He had several misdemeanor warrants for his arrest and a suspended driver's license. He was taken to the Oakland County Jail.
