Man charged with forgery for trying to cash altered lottery ticket

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man was arrested at the Thompson Center Friday morning for trying to cash an altered lottery ticket.

Jordan Merritt, 20, was arrested at 11:09 a.m. after trying to cash the ticket in the 100 block of West Randolph Street, police News Affairs said in a release.

The Illinois Lottery has a prize claim center in the building, its website said.

Merritt was charged with felony altering of a lottery ticket, and two counts of felony forgery for delivering and making the document, police said.

Merritt, of the 1300 block of West 112th Place, will appear for a bond hearing Saturday.
