CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man from south suburban Burnham has been charged after allegedly shooting a teenage girl in the head earlier this week in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood, leaving her seriously hurt.

Jarrell Guerin, 22, faces two felony counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon in connection to the shooting that happened about 3:25 p.m. on Wednesday in the 6400 block of South Stony Island Avenue, according to police.

Guerin and the 17-year-old girl allegedly got into an argument when he pulled out a handgun and fired a shot that grazed her head, police said.

She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said Wednesday.

Guerin, of the 14000 block of South Saginaw Avenue in Burnham, was identified and taken into custody on Wednesday, police said.

He is scheduled to appear in bond court on Friday.
